What are some tips for shopping for the photographer?
Searching for a photographer is looking for the memories. You want a photographer that will ensure the pictures will turn out, as well as create the uniqueness of your relationship in print. It is important for you to have an open relationship with your photographer. As a couple, you should meet with the photographer so they may understand your personality and capture the special moments for you.
What do you suggest for Engagement Pictures?
We suggest you have your engagement pictures done far in advance of the wedding. This is a chance to create the story of your relationship… your growing love. This will be your love story with a creative twist. You should have outside shots, formal shots, candid shots and anything else you choose. These can be used for your engagement announcement for the newspaper. Not to mention to share with your friends and family. A great idea is to have your engagement photograph displayed in large mat at your reception. It is a fun way to share your unique portrait. All of your guests can then sign the mat and leave the happy couple a special message.
What is a Pre-Bridal Portrait (The Gown Session)?
For the Bride, we would strongly suggest you have a pre-bridal portrait, also known as the "Gown Session." Consider this a "dress rehearsal" for the wedding day. You should schedule an appointment with your hairdresser and make-up artist (we do a free makeup service if you like). This will not only allow you to see what you will look like on the wedding day, but your hair dresser will be able to estimate how long it will take to do your hair and if the style you want will work for the wedding day. You will also be more relaxed because you will be able to fix anything you do not like and you will get used to wearing your wedding attire. Many brides display one of their portraits at the reception. This is usually displayed by the guest book.
What are some helpful hints for my Wedding Day photos?
On your wedding day, you may want to appoint a good friend or relative to assist the photographer with important people at the wedding. The photographer will have a list of all the attendants, parents, relatives, and important guests. This person can the help locate the persons involved in the next photograph.
Who photographs my wedding? How long are you there?
We personally shoot all weddings. For multi-day events involving more than one Saturday, an associate photographer may shoot some of the smaller events. Coverage times depend on the package you purchase, but we usually begin when the bride starts getting ready, and finish near the end of the reception. A second photographer is included in many of our packages.
How would you describe your photography style?
Our background as a commercial, fashion, catalogs and magazine photojournalist gives us a keen eye for subject-unaware, or candid, photography. But most couples want portraits and group shots as well. I seek to offer the best of both worlds, and to provide a well-rounded collection of images from your wedding day.
Do you travel to shoot weddings?
We love shooting destination weddings and will travel anywhere in the world to shoot your ceremony. Travel expenses apply.
When do I see my wedding images? When will I receive my album?
Ready for viewing with 10 days of your event. Once the images are selected for your album and you approve the final design, the album should be finished within 4-6 weeks, depending on the album manufacturer. Labs and album companies are always consulted to ensure an accurate delivery estimate.
What type of equipment do you use? Where do you get your prints made?
We use a variety of Canon professional equipment for both digital and film work. When making prints, we use several labs, ranging from high-quality professional labs to a master printer skilled in hand crafting fine art museum prints.
Can you do retouching, or change photos to B&W or sepia?
We have a skilled staff that specializes in Photoshop and can easily remove blemishes, under-eye lines, or soften the appearance of skin. We also convert color to B&W and special effects. Minor enhancements can be done for no additional charge. For complicated or extensive retouching or enhancements, an additional charge will apply.
How far in advance are you booked?
We have photographed weddings on as little as two weeks notice and as much as two years notice. Dates do book up, so if you are getting married during high season (April-October), it’s best to reserve your date well in advance.
